This incredible makeover was done by Jen from Migonis Home. We love her ideas for making it a versatile display piece!

You’ve probably seen a million hutches like this. The 1970s Hutch Special. It comes complete with it’s very own fence.

I found this hutch at my favorite thrift shop for $45 and had been brainstorming about using a hutch in our kitchen instead of a buffet that we previously had…but in order to do that I needed to give this hutch a little help.

Here’s what I came up with… drumroll please 🙂

I first painted the hutch a custom mixture of Dark Roast and Creme Brulee by Country Chic Paint, then after living with it for about a month finally decided my custom mixture was too sage green. Enter Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter. I’ve been a fan of this color for a while and knew it would be striking with Country Chic Paint’s Elegance as the background.

Don’t even get me started on using another brand of paint after using CCP. Here’s the bad thing about CCP…nothing else will feel good enough after you use it 🙂 It is so much easier to use than other brands because it goes on beautifully and dries incredibly quickly.

We either removed or covered the wavy trim and that fence was pulled off almost immediately.

I opted to removed the cabinet doors on the top of the shelf in order make it feel less country and more open.

The knobs and pulls were a steal from a building warehouse near us… it cost me $10 to replace them!

I staged this hutch for Easter since we were hosting this year and had this gorgeous sign hand made by Fleuri Post.

The fun part of having a hutch is that I can change up the background depending on the event I’m hosting. I just popped some scrapbook paper in the background for my daughter’s first birthday party and then removed it the next day for Easter.
