Shabby Chic Dresser Makeover

Lindsay from My Creative Days gave this yard sale dresser a new shabby-chic look with Creme Brulee and some detail distressing.

Hello! Lindsay from My Creative Days here to show you a shabby chic dresser makeover with the help of Creme Brulee paint color from Country Chic Paint.
I picked up this old dresser at a yard sale. I loved so much about it, but it needed some work. It was rough in a lot of areas and I knew a great paint color would really make this dresser stand out.

When I decided on the paint color, I really took into account the dark color of the wood. I wanted a paint color that would accentuate the dark wood once I sanded it. Creme Brulee did just that.
The dresser took three coats of paint and I took off the back panel that was put on by the previous owners.

The dark wood color coming though the Creme Brulee is so yummy! It turned out so much better than I thought it would.

It took sand paper, sweat and elbow grease to distress the dresser (and make it “shabby chic”), but the outcome is so worth it!

You can really see the details on the dresser now.

So beautiful.

This shabby chic dresser makeover is one of my favorite projects to date. Sometimes you find a piece to work on and it really does come out the way you imagined it (and sometimes…it comes out even better than you imagined). 🙂

  1. Hi, I am looking to use the same paint for a similar project. What size can of country chic paint did you end up using? Also, did you use there wax or buy elsewhere?

    1. Hi Jenna,

One pint of Creme Brulee should be plenty for a project this size! Each pint covers ~60 square feet. With regards to the wax, it looks like Lindsay finished this piece with our natural wax.

      Have a great weekend!
