Potted Herb Garden

Sarah from Life on Virginia Street painted her terracotta herb pots with Hurricane, Pebble Beach, and Elegance to add a touch of personality to her garden!

Last summer, we got a lot of use out of our small herb garden. However, I began to get frustrated with some of the herbs that seemed to take over the flower beds.
This year, I decided to tear out the few herbs that survived our harsh winter and I started fresh with some new plants and a potted herb garden to help contain the chaos.
I actually love the look of terracotta clay pots, but in our courtyard, I wanted to change things up a bit by painting the pots. Following are the supplies I used: five clay pots, five herbs {sweet basil, Italian basil, dill, rosemary and cilantro}, a paint brush and garden potting soil.

This was such a quick and easy project! I opted to go with a blue and gray color scheme, so I used Country Chic Paint’s Hurricane, Pebble Beach and Elegance. I absolutely love how this color combo turned out!

I simply painted one coat of paint per pot {and only did the inner inch or so on the interiors}.

The terracotta is very absorbent so the pots were dried in about 10 minutes. However, I waited a few hours to plant the herbs, adding in some garden potting soil to the mix.

I love the personality and color these pots add to the space and I can’t wait to enjoy these herbs in our summer recipes this year!
