Lindsay from My Creative Days turned this ordinary wooden yard sale frame into a beautiful way for her family to count their blessings with just a bit of Cheesecake!!

Happy summer Country Chic Paint readers! I hope your summer has been cool, relaxing and full of creativity so far. It is Lindsay from My Creative Days back to show you another repurposed project. This one is a special one because it makes you focus on what really matters most.

A little more about this purchase:

When I brought it up to the table to pay for it, the lady asked, “What are you going to do with it?” She said that she had tried to put a mirror in it (hence the bottom piece and the thin plywood on the back), but it didn’t work out so she didn’t want it anymore. I told her that we were going to count our blessings on it. She gave me this look and then I explained it further and she loved the idea. She even said she didn’t want to sell it so she could make her own. 🙂 Now that I look back on it, I wish I would have given her my business card so she could see how it turned out. UGH! On to the transformation…

This piece was all ready to be transformed when I got it so it really was an easy project. I painted the frame with “Cheesecake” from Country Chic Paint and then I painted the thin plywood with chalkboard paint.

After a few coats, I lightly sanded the edges around the entire frame.

In order to finish this project, I needed the entire family. I wrote “Count Your Blessings” on the chalkboard with a white chalkboard pen. Then, I asked the family what our blessings are. As we all said our thoughts, I made tally marks.

So far, this summer we have a lot to be thankful for!

This transformation was so much fun because it brought the family together to focus on all the “good” we have. It is easy to focus on what you don’t have or what someone else has, but when you really sit down to think about it, you find out you have so much to be thankful for.
