I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to paint these dressers with all the chunky drawer fronts. They sat on my “To Do” list for months after purchasing. I finally decided they needed to get out of my garage to make space for other pieces and I could not paint those other pieces until these 2 big pieces were done.

After discovering that the drawer fronts were plastic, I knew I was going to remove the plastic pieces to see what I was left with. Plain front drawers were better to work with than the chunky plastic fronts. I then decided that I could turn these into media centers and they would have a dual purpose instead of just dressers.

After removing the top drawer sections from each piece and creating shelves to place media components or baskets, I added some details to the front of the drawers by using stencils and embossing crème. This gave the plain front drawers a classy sophisticated look.

Now all the fun begins, bringing the media centers alive with Country Chic Paint. I started by spraying on Vanilla Frosting as my base layer. Yes, did you know you can use Country Chic Paint in a sprayer. You need to dilute your paint slightly according to the paint sprayer manufacturer directions. I diluted mine to be 10 parts paint to 1 part water.

Next I sealed with Country Chic Paint’s tough coat. Now the magic happens. I decided to use a washing technique for the top layer. I used Country Chic Paint in the color liquorice. I diluted the paint to equal parts paint to water. I brushed on the paint and wiped off with a lint free cloth, working in small sections.
