Dining Table Makeover

This outdated dining set was revamped by Lindsey from Everyday Originals in Pebble Beach topped with our Tough Coat. Click here to find out what she thinks of the new finish!

Hi again – it’s Lindsey from Everyday Originals back to share a quick dining table makeover!
This dining set was basic and boring and definitely needed to be modernized. It had a cherry red color tabletop and beige colored cushions. I started by giving it a light sanding using 120-grit sandpaper. Enough to rough it up a tad and lighten the dark cherry top.
Using Country Chic’s Pebble Beach color I began by giving the tabletop one coat of paint. After that it needed a second coat to really cover the darkness of the previous wood. It didn’t need a full third coat, so instead I just went around and touched up any places that were in need of a little extra paint.

I let the table dry for about two days – mostly because I had no reason to rush to complete it.
I then used Country Chic’s Tough Coat to finish and protect the tabletop. Following the instructions on the can, I lightly applied to the table. I let dry a few hours before adding the second coat.

I allowed the whole thing to cure for about 10 days and then I tested out the durability of the Tough Coat product. I intentionally spilled food and beverages on the tabletop over the course of a few days to see how it would wipe up.

I was amazed! It cleaned just like any other table, didn’t stain, nick or discolor. I can’t wait to use the tough coat again. The ease of use was phenomenal and the outcome even better. Next up, I think I’m going to use it on a built-in, that’s original to our house, to protect the paint from scratches around the drawer pulls and handles. Stay tuned!
