Cait from Little City Farmhouse brightened up the look of this lovely dresser with a coat of Cheesecake! What do you think?

Hello! I’m Cait from Little City Farmhouse and I am so excited to share a dresser project with you that has been in the works for a long time! I found this dresser about a year or so ago, and it has been sitting in my storage space since! I kept looking at it, undecided about the colour, knowing it needed something classic, timeless, and pretty. So it sat (and I of course forgot to take a before photo!).

Then I came across these knobs in a local shop and fell in love!

Around the same time, I was asked if I would try the colour Cheesecake on a piece. I am the type of person that finds the “perfect” shade of cream and never strays – so I was hesitant! I’ve always painted with Vanilla Frosting, but it wasn’t right for this dresser. So I cracked open the can of Cheesecake and tested the colour on the dresser – it is the most gorgeous shade of antique white! I can’t believe I haven’t painted a piece with it before!

I didn’t prep the dresser for paint at all. I wanted to create the look natural age an heirloom piece would have. I knew the paint would adhere well to this piece and I wanted all of the natural imperfections to show through. I gave the entire dresser two coats of Cheesecake.

When it was dry I sanded the whole dresser really well. Natural wood tones lightly bled through some of the bottom drawers in a very light almost tea-stained way and I didn’t want to cover that up, so I buffed in a coat of Natural Wax.

If you are unsure what to do with a piece, wait for inspiration! It will come, and it will be beautiful! I am certainly going to have a really hard time letting this piece go!

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
