Ready for spring!

Jamie from Style Your Nest is joining us for her very first Country Chic Paint blog post today! Come see how she refurbished this cabinet in Creme Brulee and Simplicity.

I am always on the look out for my next painting project, and when I spotted this old dirty cabinet, I HAD to have it!

Upon closer inspection, you could tell that it no longer had glass doors that would have come with it and there were some cracks on the back, but I could see the potential and I could not wait to bring it home and get started. It was quite dusty and dirty, so I did some sanding, vacuumed it down, cleaned it up and decided to prime it first. I don’t often do this with my projects, but it had an old wood musty smell that in my experience, can never fully get rid off just by painting it. Priming it did the trick and it will help with the paint colour as I could tell the dark wood would just soak up the paint.

See, its looking better already!

Luckily the primer didn’t take long at all to dry and I was ready to get started. Often when I find pieces, I know instantly what I want do with them, but this piece I had to think a bit more. I looked at Country Chic’s paint colours for inspiration and knew right away I had to paint it with Creme Brulee on the outside and Simplicity on the inside. Each colour took 2 coats each and took to the cabinet beautifully.

We are right on the brink of spring and the snow here has finally melted. I am just itching for spring to officially arrive and this yellow just screams spring to me. It makes me so happy just looking at it.
