Andrea from Crossroad Creations used Rustic Charm and Vanilla Frosting to turn this simple dresser into a stunning, cottage-style masterpiece!

I cannot express my current love of green enough with you, and Country Chic Paint has the perfect shade called Rustic Charm! I love how it looks when mixed with wood finishes. When we had a custom order for a green dresser, I could not have been more excited!

The dresser required minimal prep work to prepare for painting as it was in good repair. After the surface was lightly sanded for proper adhesion, the Furniture and Home D├ęcor paint went on smoothly and only required two coats for full coverage. The top of this piece had to be reduced in size in order to fit the space and was then refinished with a darker stain.

This dresser is going to be used as storage for an entryway, so I knew that I wanted this piece to be an extra special greeting as you walk in the door. After watching the Country Chic Paint tutorial on stenciling, I knew I was going to try this technique on this piece. I chose Vanilla Frosting for the stencil work and settled with a bird and branches design. I was able to use stencils for the majority of the piece, but then switched to freehand to extend the design across the drawer fronts. The coverage of the Vanilla Frosting was beautiful which meant I only required the one coat. I painted the original knobs the same colour as the dresser so that they would not be a distraction.

I allowed the paint to dry overnight before applying my finishing coat of wax. My favorite technique is to apply the natural clear wax over the entire piece with a wax brush, and then work in sections to apply the antiquing wax and wipe off the excess with a lint-free cloth until I reach the desired result. In this case I only wanted to deepen the colour a bit so I only required a minimal amount of the antiquing wax. I hope you all enjoy this dresser makeover, inspired by the promise of warmer spring weather! I am so excited I decided to try a new technique on this dresser and I encourage you to as well!
