Come see the full transformation of this gorgeous dresser by Lisa from Recreated Designs in Icicle and Silver Bullet metallic cream!

We all have these tired and sad looking outdated dressers kicking around and this one was in desperate need of a makeover! It was dark and scratched and, well, just plain ugly.

To recreate this piece I wanted to do something light and airy that had a hint of sophistication and beauty. I chose the Country Chic All-in-One Decor Paint in Icicle and I can’t begin to express how beautiful this colour is! It is soft and feminine and classic and would be the perfect backdrop for some silver accents and highlight.

Before painting the entire piece, I spent a bit of time making some knobs that would bring out the beauty of the blue paint. I picked up some plain wooden knobs and painted them with two coats of the soft blue Icicle paint.

Once they were painted and dried, I dipped the end of each knob in white glue and then in some German glass glitter. The glass glitter is stunning and will tarnish a bit over time which will add to the aged looked of the piece.

For the body of the dresser I painted it with two coats of the Icicle paint and then added the knobs. The blue and the silver are such a classic colour pair and they played off each other wonderfully.

To add a little of the silver shimmer to the dresser, I mixed some of the Country Chic Natural Wax and the Metallic Cream in Silver Bullet and rubbed it on with a soft cloth. By making a paste of the two products it added just a hint of silver shimmer without it being too overpowering on the blue.

To finish piece off, I used some of the white wax to highlight the drawer fronts. I have used the white wax before and absolutely love the soft glow that it gives a piece. It is one of my very favourite products and was the perfect final touch to the airy dresser.
