Andrea from Crossroad Creations layered together Full Bloom and Mermaid’s Tale on this piece with the help of our Beeswax Distressing Bar to give it a colorful, shabby chic look!

One of my favourite things to update with a fresh coat of paint is a magazine table or rack. If you are anything like me, you always have a large number of home décor magazines cluttering your living space, so why not store them in a fashionable and functional magazine table! We decided to try a fun technique of layering different colours of paint with this project and I hope you enjoy the end result as much as I do!

The first step in this project was to give the piece a light sanding and cleaning in order to prepare it for painting. Next, the table was painted in one of the boldest colours on the Country Chic Paint colour card, Full Bloom. I love this bright coral colour, and knew it would pop on this piece. Before applying the next layer of paint we used the Beeswax Distressing Bar liberally on all the edges and curves in order to accent these details later on.

I chose one of the Spring/Summer Limited Edition Colours for the top layer, a soft purple called Mermaid’s Tale. This All-in-One formula is so easy to use and covered the table beautifully. After giving this final layer time to dry, I used a fine grit sanding block on the edges in order to expose the Full Bloom colour underneath. This process is made so much easier by using the Distressing Block as it prevents the second layer of paint from adhering as strongly to the areas where it was applied. I would definitely recommend trying the layering technique on your next piece. There are so many color combinations that you can try!
