Andrea from Crossroad Creations gave this end table a cottage makeover with Creme Brulee, Harmony, and antiquing wax to build the beginnings of her reading nook!

I will admit it, I am always drawn to old furniture with curvy lines and cannot seem to buy enough of it. For this blog post, I am going to show you how this end table was given a fresh makeover using some of my favourite products from Country Chic Paint.

I chose Crème Brulee for this piece, which is a soft yellow that I think lends itself to a charming country or cottage décor. After giving the paint time to dry overnight, I used a blend of natural and antiquing wax to deepen the yellow hue and accent the details of the craftsmanship. I used a lint free cloth to wipe away some of the antiquing wax in the center of the drawers and sides so that the colour would be darker around the edges and lighter in the middle. This technique works well when you have brush strokes in the finished paint to give the antiquing wax a place to settle. It really gives the table more of a naturally aged finish.

I normally do not paint the inside of a drawer if it is in good repair as I like to leave it as a nod to the original finish, but this one required some touchups, so I painted the inside of the drawer with Harmony.

The original hardware on the drawer was in good shape, but the gold colour didn’t pop as well as I wanted it to. To give more of a contrast I used a metallic spray paint in oil rubbed bronze to change the colour of the drawer pulls. I think this complements both the colour and style of the piece.

I hope you enjoyed reading about this finished project! Now I am off to find a couple of chairs to go on either side of this table to create a reading nook in my bedroom!
