Classic Grain Sack

Learn how to give your furniture a classic grain sack look with Cait from Little City Farmhouse! She used two limited edition colors, Sunday Tea and Sea Storm for this project.

Hello readers!

I’m popping in today to share with you a fun project! I love refinishing children’s furniture – probably because my kids aren’t babies anymore and so it’s somewhat nostalgic for me! I have also been really inspired by the finishes and textures of textiles lately – this little table and chairs set was refinished with a grain sack look!

I painted the table and chairs with Sunday Tea – a previous limited edition colour. The earthy neutral shade is beautiful.

For the stripes, I measured and taped off where I wanted them to be and painted them with Sea Storm – a gorgeous blue from the new Limited Edition Collection. I painted the numbers on the chairs with Sea Storm as well.

I gave the entire set a really good sanding – I wanted the stripes to look faded and the table and chairs to look naturally distressed. I gave the entire set a coat of clear wax, with an extra coat of wax on the table top.

The set has a classic farmhouse feel now!

Cait {Little City Farmhouse}

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
