Andrea from Crossroad Creations is joining us again to share her transformation of this beautiful cottage-style table with our limited edition color, Pistachio Delight and Tiger’s Eye Glaze! Isn’t it beautiful?

Warm weather is upon us and it is time to refresh some of the furniture that may be looking dated in our cottages! I was able to transform this cute Duncan Phyfe drop-leaf table on the weekend, and am excited to share with you the results.

The first steps were to give this table a thorough cleaning and then get out the sandpaper. I only did a light sanding by hand on the base of the table, but did a more thorough sanding of the tabletop as I wanted to stain it.

I chose a limited edition colour from last year called Pistachio. I always order my favourite limited edition colours, even if I’m not sure what piece of furniture I will use them on yet! Of course, you can always order it as a custom colour, which is another great option. I painted two coats of Pistachio on the base and stained the top on the Saturday, letting it dry overnight before moving onto the next step.

I normally use an antiquing wax on more intricate table bases like this one, but thought it may be too dark for the shade of stain that was chosen. This is where the Country Chic Paint Furniture Glazes are a great option, plus they are very user friendly! I chose the Tiger’s Eye glaze as I felt it coordinated well with the warm tones in the stain. I used an old chip brush to apply the glaze over the paint and then used a damp lint-free cloth to wipe away the excess. I find it easiest to work in small sections so that the glaze does not dry longer in one section than another.

After I was finished with the Furniture Glaze, I used a top coat on the stained table top. Once the table was dry I used a wax brush to apply the Natural Wax to finish off this refreshed kitchen table. I hope you all enjoyed this makeover and are inspired to take on a painting project of your own this weekend!
