Looking to update old furniture that has been passed down to you? Why not use a little paint? Cait from Little City Farmhouse used Cobblestone sealed with natural and antiquing wax to give this side table a whole new look!

Hello readers!

A lot of times my customers come to me with their pieces that have been left to them or handed down to them by family members that are in need of a little pick-me-up. A lovely customer of mine brought me this table that had been left to her by her grandmother – she didn’t love it at all, but really wanted to keep it because of the sentimental value. So we freshened it up!

Several of the other pieces I have done for her were painted in Cobblestone, so we did the same to this one. I gave it a light sanding to prep it because of the very shiny poly topcoat that was on it. I then painted it in two coats of Cobblestone.

When it was dry I sanded it, hitting the edges lightly to slightly bring out the character. To finish it up, I waxed it with a combination of clear and antiquing wax. I keep a separate jar that I have some clear and some antiquing wax in, and I apply them at the same time essentially mixing the two together. This gives the effect of the antiquing wax in a more subtle way.

Cait {Little City Farmhouse}

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
