How do you decide which product to seal your piece with? Should you go with a wax or Tough Coat? We’re here to help!
In this brand new video tutorial company co-founder, Rosanne will talk about the differences between wax and Tough Coat to help you decide which will be best for your next project!
How To Choose a Finishing Product | Which Product To Use: Wax or Varnish
Option 1) No sealant
If you like a very matte finish and your piece will not undergo heavy wear and tear, you can skip this step entirely and choose not to seal it at all!
Option 2) Waxing
To give your furniture a more professional looking finish, we love the look and feel of wax! Our Natural Wax will help you achieve a fine furniture finish which is perfect for everyday items that won’t get too much wear and tear.
Wax is applied with a wax brush or a lint-free rag, then buffed until it’s smooth and no longer tacky.
Option 3) Tough Coat
Tough Coat is our go-to product for any furniture that will get a lot of heavy usage, such as table tops and kitchen cabinets. It is extremely durable and as you can see in these pictures, dries to a beautiful satin sheen.
Tough Coat is applied with a foam brush in long, smooth strokes.
Here you can see the difference in sheen between natural wax (front) and Tough Coat’s satin finish (back). To see more visuals of the difference between natural wax and Tough Coat, click here.
