If you love two-toned transformations like we do, you’re going to flip for this dresser by Andrea from Crossroad Creations in Bliss and Vanilla Frosting!

I am excited to share with you one of my favorite furniture transformations I have done using Country Chic Paint. I found this old dresser at an auction and was drawn to the sturdy construction and pretty details on this dresser, despite the damaged veneer and scratches. It’s amazing what a little preparation and paint and can do!

The first thing I did was cut away the small bits of peeling veneer and then sanded the whole piece using an orbital sander with a low grit sand paper on the flat areas, and a smaller hand sander on the more intricate details. I wanted to sand this project more heavily so that I could smooth out some of the scratches on the drawers. I then used a little bit of wood filler to fill in the small areas of missing veneer.

I chose to paint the frame of the dresser and the mirror using Vanilla Frosting. I love how soft this shade of white is and how it gives a wonderfully vintage feel. I used two coats of paint to give the opaque coverage I was looking for. I wanted to liven up the whole project and decided to use Bliss on the drawers for some bold contrast.

After letting the paint dry overnight, I used a sanding block to lightly distress the edges of the drawers and the frame. I decided to distress a little more on the more intricate areas so that they would stand out.

After I was happy with the distressing I used the Natural Wax to seal the project. Using the large wax brush, this was accomplished quickly. I used a microfiber cloth to remove any excess wax and to lightly buff the dresser, giving it a soft glow.

I hope you like this project as much as I do and are inspired to try one of your own!
