Cait from Little City Farmhouse used our new limited edition color, Nightfall as well as Vanilla Frosting and Natural Wax for this sweet bookshelf transformation!

Hello readers!

Country Chic put together a gorgeous line-up of Limited Edition colours for this fall & winter season! When I saw this swatch of blue it immediately reminded me of my son’s nursery – long ago when he was just a little fella! His nursery was a nearly identical shade of blue with beadboard wainscotting. I wanted to do something to recreate that look with this gorgeous blue, Nightfall, so I went searching in my storage shed! This vintage shelf was perfect!

I gave it a light sanding and cleaning and painted it in two coats of Nightfall. When it was dry I sanded it to smooth it out (the All-in-One paint becomes extremely smooth when you sand it) and to lightly distress the edges. The All-in-One has a built in top-coat so there’s no need to worry about an additional topcoat on most projects. On highly used pieces I like to add an extra topcoat just for reassurance. I gave it a light coat of clear wax.

For the back, to mimic my son’s nursery, I switched out the previous back with beadboard. I gave it a coat of Vanilla Frosting and a light coat of wax.

The shelf turned out so sweet and reminds me so much of the many nights sitting in the nursery rocking my baby!

Cait {Little City Farmhouse}

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
