Stephanie from Crafting in the Rain used Lazy Linen with Antiquing Wax details to renew the beauty of this globe stand. Come find out how she did it!

This was my first time experimenting with the dark antiquing wax. I was a little nervous about how it might go, but I really like how it turned out!

I bought this globe with stand on Craigslist and I didn’t do any prep work before I started painting. I did take the globe out of its rest of course. And I discovered that I could unscrew the metal support as well, so it was nice to have that out of the way.

I painted one coat of Lazy Linen All-in-One Decor Paint and then realized there were just a couple of cracks in the wood finish. I smoothed out the lines with some spackle and then painted a second coat.

When everything was dry I used a small paintbrush to apply a tiny amount of dark wax inside the “crevices” of the piece. I wanted to accent the shapes without darkening the whole stand by putting wax everywhere. Then I rubbed with a paper towel. You can see the difference here.

Here it is all finished. Lazy Linen is a super light gray color and really pretty. I can’t wait to use it on something else. I have a lot left over after doing this stand. Next time I want to do some dark accenting like this I may try the furniture glaze. If you had a globe stand like this what color would you paint it?
