This beautiful china cabinet was refurbished by Andrea from Crossroad Creations with Creme Brulee. Come read all about it!

I picked up this china cabinet from a local thrift store without having a plan in place for it. The mirrored back was cracked and the design was quite dated. Without really knowing where to start, I began taking it apart and waited for a plan to reveal itself.

I removed the mirrors, the glass shelves and the rounded portion at the back. I decided to go with a flat board for the back piece and since this wouldn’t work with the glass shelves, I used one of them as a template and cut new shelves out of wood.

I lightly sanded the rest of the piece and was ready to start painting. I painted the body of the china cabinet in Crème Brulee and the shelves in Vanilla Frosting. After leaving the two coats of paint to dry overnight, I used Natural Wax and Antiquing Wax to deepen the colors a little. I find that using a combination of the two waxes works well on light paint colors for a subtle antiquing effect.

After a thorough cleaning of the front of the cabinet, it was complete and ready to house a vintage collection!
