For many of us, putting on makeup is an automatic act, a routine. At Elate Cosmetics, we believe everyday routine becomes ritual when the action is more meaningful than the outcome. We believe true beauty is in the ritual itself. The small measures of self-care we afford ourselves daily are the seeds of self-love we plant to grow more confident, more powerful and more beautiful then we could ever imagine.
At Elate cosmetics we want to empower all women to make healthy choices and use the best possible products for their daily ritual. Products that support women in need, and are kind in every way possible.
Putting on mascara, isn’t going to change the world. But, it may change your perception of yourself, just a little, so you can.
So, go forth, and feel beautiful.
Susan Petersen started making baby moccasins in 2009 after becoming frustrated by the lack of well-designed baby shoes. Using her second child, Gus, as a mocc-tester, and a bag of scrap leather she picked up at a yard sale, she began experimenting with designs. Working at her kitchen table, on a shoestring budget, Susan persisted through several attempts until she had created a pair of moccasins that not only looked adorable on Gus’ chubby little feet, but stayed on his feet as well.
Since then the moccasins have gone through about six design changes. Each change has perfected the look and the fit of the soft-soled shoe. The moccasins you purchase today are durable, well designed, and most importantly: stay on your child’s foot.
Money was tight at the time Susan started and in order to earn money to start her business she got resourceful. Her brother owns a window installation business and in the summer of 2009 she convinced him to let her keep the old windows that he was removing from the houses. She spent a whole summer banging the glass out of the windows because they were encased in aluminum frames. At the end of the summer she took the aluminum window frames to the scrap yard and recycled them to get money. She made $200 dollars and with that literal sweat equity, she started her business.
Each pair of moccasins, whether being shipped to the rich and famous (or at least their kids), or shipped across town, are made with care, perfection and a love for the little feet they are intended for. We sincerely hope you enjoy our product!

StencilGirl founder Mary Beth Shaw worked in the insurance industry for 18 years before going crazy in the year 2000 and quitting her job. While exploring creative options, she re-ignited her inner artist and started down the path of a self-taught fine artist, supporting herself as a mixed media painter and later, as a nationally known workshop instructor and author of instructional art books, “Flavor for Mixed Media: A Feast of Techniques for Texture, Color and Layers” and “Stencil Girl: Mixed-Media Techniques for Making and Using Stencils”, published by North Light Books.
Having hand-cut her own stencils for years, Mary Beth dipped her toe into the stencil design business in 2010 after her students asked if they could purchase some of her designs. She had a half dozen stencils cut to sell and voila! Before she knew it, StencilGirl Products was born.Today StencilGirl Products sells more than 900 stencils designed by a team of talented artists. Mary Beth is proud of her artist designers and insists they are paid appropriate and fair royalties every time one of their designs is sold.
StencilGirl Products cuts stencils the old fashion way, one at a time right here in the USA. We are a family-owned business that includes Mary Beth, her husband John, and son-in-law, Frank.
