This fabulous makeover was completed by Heidi from Lily Field Furniture with Rocky Mountain and Tough Coat!
This dresser was the perfect candidate for a makeover! The orange wood made it look dated- nothing a little paint couldn’t fix!
To prep this dresser for painting I simply cleaned it off and gave it a light sanding with 220 grit sandpaper. It had been sitting in my garage for a few months and had developed a bit of grime. Once I had it all cleaned up I painted one coat of Rocky Mountain, a beautiful deep grey color. It’s almost a charcoal color and has become one of my favorite grey paint colors! After letting the paint dry I went over with a sanding sponge and lightly distressed the edges. To seal the dresser I used Tough Coat. This gives a deep satin finish and protects the dresser for use.
We switched out the hardware to further modernize the dresser. What do you think?! Not bad for a little bit of paint!

Hello! My name is Heidi and I am the face behind Lily Field Furniture. I spend my days being a wife and mom and my late nights in the garage painting away! I absolutely love the job that I have and have so much fun with the process of thrifting and then refinishing furniture in a creative way. It’s so rewarding to see the amazing transformation that just a little paint can make!
