This lovely dresser was given an fabulous new look with Cobblestone and Tough Coat by Angie from The Painted Piano!
When my daughter needed a new dresser for her room, I hit the local flea market to see what I could find. I was excited when I finally found one just the right size, but boy did it need a little love! Sometimes you have to look past all the imperfections and see the potential in a piece of furniture.
My daughter and I weren’t crazy about some of the lines in the dresser and wanted a simpler look. A little wood filler took care of it! There were at least 4 coats of paint or glaze on the dresser. So I sanded it smooth with 150-grit sandpaper before I began painting. No matter how nice your paint job is, if it’s going over several cruddy paint jobs, it will look like a cruddy paint job!
Next came the fun part! I used Country Chic paint in Cobblestone to give this dresser a fresh new look. After the first coat, I lightly sanded the surface with 320-grit sandpaper to ensure a nice, smooth finish before applying the second coat. Two coats provided great coverage. Cobblestone is such a perfect gray!
Typically, I distress the edges for a worn, farmhouse look. But we wanted a crisp, clean look for this teenage dresser. So after the paint dried, I applied a thin coat of Tough Coat to protect the smooth finish.
My daughter chose fun white arrows for the drawer pulls. I love how it gave the dresser a fun, updated look. Perfect for a 13-year-old’s room! The dresser is a far cry from where it started. It’s so fun and easy to give furniture new life with Country Chic paint!

Hi can you tell me a bit more about your projects and/or paints? I have never atempted a project myself, but I’d love to! Is your paint a “ready to go” paint where sanding and all that stuff is not required? Perhaps I just need to take a deeper dive into your website and learn more. I love your work in instagram! Beautiful decor and you have such talent!
Thank you!
