Striking, Sophisticated Mirror

This striking mirror frame was created by Cait from Little City Farmhouse using a mix of Dark Roast and Liquorice topped with Antiquing Wax!

Mirrors are an item all of us have in our homes – they’re both decorative and functional! What happens when you have the perfect mirror but it’s not the perfect colour? You paint it!

This is an Ikea mirror that a client of mine had. It was a honey pine colour and wasn’t doing anything for her home decor. She wanted something striking in a black colour with a brown undertone. I mixed a custom colour using Dark Roast (a beautiful dark coffee colour) and Liquorice (black). I mixed it by eye, but the ratio was right around 4 parts Dark Roast to 1 part Liquorice.

I prepped the mirror by lightly sanding and then painted on two coats of my custom mixed colour. When it was dry I buffed in Antique Wax to further accent the brown tone.

Cait {Little City Farmhouse}

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
