Aubrey from Luscious & Lively used Hurricane, Elegance and Tough Coat to give this table a new life.

When I found this side table, I knew I wanted to do something special with it. It had a basic wood finish, nothing out of the ordinary. But I fell in love with the details. All of the scroll work and the front carved design. . . it needed to be painted in a way to make it pop!

My first step was to fill in all of the detailed carvings with the darker paint color. I chose All-In-One Decor Paint in Hurricane. It is such a lovely deep grey. What I loved best is that it had such great coverage, which is key when painting picky scroll work! Nobody wants to do multiple coats on picky details.

Once the details had been done, I left it to dry and moved on to the second color. Using the same All-In-One Decor Paint in the color Elegance, I painted the rest of the table. I used the painting sponge for this coat, because it glides over the carved scroll work. Using a brush risks having the brush bristles accidentally mark up the dark paint.

The key to the crisp detail lines on the top is painter’s tape. There is no way I can free hand that kind of straight line! Whenever I focus I get shaky – not a good mix for detail lines! I have tried sticking my tongue out while I paint – the lines didn’t end up any straighter.

To protect the table and keep it gorgeous for years to come, I sealed the flat surfaces with Tough Coat. This way those straight lines won’t get damaged over time!

I really love the end result of this table – the perfect addition to your French Country decor.
