Heidi from Lily Field Furniture brightened up these bar stools with Jitterbug and Tough Coat.

Bar stools and dining chairs are such an easy way to add a pop of color to your home! Often what we have in our home functions perfectly and can look like a brand new piece once painted! I was thrilled when one of my clients asked me to paint her existing stools in a bright color. She had intended to buy new bar stools and was shocked at what they cost.

We went with Jitterbug, Country Chic’s newest Spring release color. Since these chairs were extra shiny, I took a few extra prep steps. After cleaning them with tsp solution I lightly sanded and then primed. Jitterbug is an All in One mineral based paint and has tremendous adhesion qualities. I likely would have been fine not using primer. However, since these stools will be used daily I wanted to take every precaution to make them last!

Quite a difference, isn’t it? After painting I went ahead and distressed the chairs. Since they will be used daily distressing is a smart choice! For added protection I used tough coat to seal the bar stools and add a bit of gloss. My client is in the process of recovering the seats with new fabric.
