Elegance Dresser

This pretty blue dresser was created by Crystal from Team Sutton Designs with Elegance and Tough Coat to give it a fresh, springy look!

Hi friends! Now that springtime is here and summer is approaching, it’s time to overhaul our homes and bring in some bright and fun décor! One of my favorite colors to decorate with in the warm months is definitely varying shades of blue, mint, and white.

One of the prettiest blues I have painted with is Elegance from Country Chic Paint. I feel that this blue is a perfect mix of blues and greens, but still remains neutral. If you are one to shy away from bright colors, but want to start incorporating colors, this shade is the perfect starter!

I slightly distressed the edges of the dresser and sealed it with Country Chic Paint’s Tough Coat. I also paired it with glass knobs because I wanted to give it a dainty and light look without it making too much of a statement. I wanted the focal point to be on the color and the pretty curves.

This color also pairs lovely with a dark wood. I used Dark Walnut on the top of this dresser but if you are going for a more “beach cottage” look, I’d go with a light or natural wood. Either way, this color will definitely compliment wood tones, especially if you are trying to pull from other wood elements in your home.

I always like to line my drawers with a matching paper. I chose this removeable wallpaper I found at Target that matches perfectly, but I can also see this matching with a tan ticking stripe, pink and coral florals or even a fun black and white print.

I definitely love having this shade of blue on my paint rack because so many customers gravitate to a minty blue or duck egg shade, especially during this time of the year. I highly recommend adding this on your list of go-to’s because you really can’t go wrong!

  1. How do you distress chalk paint? Do you use a wax puck in the edges, wet distress, or use sandpaper at the end?

    1. Hi Marcia, you can distress our chalk-based paint using all of the methods you described. Learn more about how to distress in this tutorial: https://www.countrychicpaint.ca/pages/distressing-techniques
