We interviewed Jessica Cassity, owner of LaBella Designs in Havelock, NC to learn a little bit more about her store, what it’s like to be a Country Chic Paint retailer, and why she loves to what she does. Read on to learn more about her story!
Jessica and her husband have been crafters and builders for many years now. In 2016, disaster struck as her husband fell ill and was forced to spend 3 months in hospital. Although it was the worst year of their lives, Jessica says something great came out of it! During the recovery process, the couple reignited their love of crafting and creating together as a means of getting through the tough times.
Jessica is a real estate broker by trade and her husband is a marine who used to own a cabinet/counter top business. Between their professional expertise and their mutual love of DIY projects, they discovered they had the perfect skill set to start their own shabby chic home decor business!
One of the many things that makes LaBella Designs a unique shopping experience is the hand-crafted items. 99% of their furniture and decor items are built by the owners! They also focus heavily on teaching others and passing on their crafting expertise. If you’d like to learn from a pro, make sure you sign up for a workshop with Jessica!
What it’s like being a Country Chic Paint retailer…
Jessica became an official Country Chic Paint retailer in December of 2016, just before their shop officially opened in January. She says her favorite part of running her shop is hosting workshops. They host 2-3 every week on Friday and Saturday evenings where attendees can learn techniques such as distressing, glazing, and waxing to create their own custom signs, mason jar centerpieces, blanket ladders, and much more! Jessica loves to meet new customers and spend time with them to help them bring their visions to life.
Her future plans…
Jessica is proud to be a part of her local business community and plans to continue growing her presence to become the go-to place for DIYers. If you’re in the area, make sure you stop by her shop and keep your eyes out for the soon-to-come craft bar where you can drop in to work on your home decor projects at your leisure!
