This beautiful, pink French Provincial dresser was refurbished by Sarah from Honour Design with Vintage Cupcake for a very lucky little girl!

This is the second dresser I had the opportunity to upcycle for a friend. I feel lucky that I have friends that will trust me with custom projects for their children! #LuckyGirl

I loved the French provincial style of this dresser and knew that the requested colour would suit it perfectly. On this project, I used Country Chic Paint in Vintage Cupcake. You can’t help but smile when you see this true pink colour covering your paint brush and gliding across your project! Such a fun colour!

I tried my hand at a new product from Country Chic Paint on this project called Bonding Primer. This product helps the paint adhere easier on any tough surfaces. I love that the product is clear in case you want to distress the piece at all. I found this product helped the paint glide on and stick easier on the shiny surface areas, saving me the time and money of an extra coat or two of paint. After letting the Bonding Primer dry for a day I went over the piece with two coats of Vintage Cupcake.

For this piece, I wanted to recycle the existing handles and give them a refresh. First for the handles I also applied the bonding primer. Next I applied a coat of Liquorice (black), followed by a coat of Silver Bullet Metallic Cream (silver cream), and followed by a coat of Vintage Cupcake (all by Country Chic Paint!). I know quite a few colours eh?! But I wanted to create lots of depth to show off the details. Once I finished with all the coats I lightly distressed the handles. For the top drawers that were missing handles I found some vintage looking knobs at Home Sense Canada to finish off the look.

I completed the project with two coats of Country Chic Paint Tough Coat. This product is a life saver to protect your piece and give it that extra bit of durability in a child’s room that may encounter lots of play!

It’s truly remarkable what a difference a couple coats of good paint can make on an old forgotten piece.

When in doubt of a colour to pick… Think Pink!

Until the next project…XOXO
