Heidi from Lily Field Furniture applied some Country Chic Paint Primer and Liquorice to give her kitchen cabinets a truly sophisticated, modernized finish!

Today I wanted to show you a little bit of my own home. You all know I love to use Country Chic Paint on my furniture makeovers but I also use these amazing products in my own home renovation!

The picture below is a realtor photo from before we purchased our home. This shows a little nook off to the side of the kitchen. The yellow paint was BRIGHT!

I knew I wanted my work space to be in the heart of our home. With little children I didn’t want to be off in a different room when I needed to work. This space was a perfect solution! I started by taking down some cabinets to make the space feel more open and airy.

After toning down the wall color to a neutral (BM Tapestry Beige lightened 50%) it was time to tackle the cabinets. It’s no surprise I chose to use my favorite shade of Country Chic Paint, Liquorice! It’s a true, deep black that is timeless and sophisticated.

For preparation I cleaned the cabinets thoroughly with a TSP degreaser and then sanded all of the surfaces well with various grits of sandpaper. To prime I used Country Chic Paint’s new Primer. I love this product because it is clear. That means if you want to distress you don’t see a colored primer underneath your painted surface!

Once the primer was dry I sprayed/rolled 2 coats of the Liquorice paint onto all surfaces making sure to allow paint to dry between layers. For sealer I applied several coats of heavy use polyurethane. The added hardware finished off the makeover beautifully!

I have a few things still to do that include removing the soffit, trim work, counters and a tile backsplash for starters. The space has come a long way though and I absolutely love getting work done here! Wait until you see the rest of the kitchen makeover 😉
