This lovely, neutral, two-toned dresser was restored to its former beauty by Cheryl from Shab-2-Fab Crinoline, Hula Hoop, Black Wax, and Hemp Oil!
About six weeks ago a lovely woman named Jayne contacted me about refinishing her antique bedroom set. I was thrilled and immediately said yes. I decided that I’d work on it one piece at a time starting with the dresser.
The dresser arrived in pretty good condition and after a really good scrub down It was ready for paint. I had been wanting to do a two-toned piece for quite sometime and wanting to keep it as neutral as possible I decided on Crinoline and Hula Hoop, two lovely colors that could live in harmony together.
Before painting I applied a standard bonding primer to lessen the amount of paint I’d need to cover up the pre-existing stain. Once the primer had dried I painted the drawers in two coats of Hula Hoop and the base in two coats of Crinoline.
I was going for a sleek look so I didn’t sand this piece. After painting I applied Country Chic Paint’s Hemp Oil and then applied Country Chic Paint’s Black Wax right over top for a beautifully waxed finish.
I found the original pulls to be in amazing shape so I simply updated them with some Rustoleum spray paint and gave the top drawers sparkly new crystal knobs.
I’m very much looking forward to doing the next commission piece for Jayne and seeing the final setup of her bedroom.
