Sarah from Honour Design took a girly, outdated desk and made it magnificent once again with Liquorice and Tough Coat!

French provincial is one of my favourite styles to paint! The lines and curves of this style have a certain amount of drama that I love. I knew that this piece would be a stunner if I went simple and dark.

For this desk, I wanted to use Country Chic Paint’s classic black in “Liquorice”.

Before applying any paint I applied a coat of Country Chic Paint “Bonding Primer” to the top of the piece as well as the metal handles. The top happened to be unusually shiny on the desk so I saved myself from struggling with paint coverage and used this great product. This product is also great at bonding paint to metal surfaces like handles and hardware.

I painted on two coats of “Liquorice”, waiting a day between each coat. Next I also painted 2 coats of paint on the original brassy handles that came with the desk. Once the paint was fully dry I covered the piece and handles with two coats of Country Chic Paint “Tough Coat” to set and protect the project.

This desk is ready for act two in its next home with a little bit of black magic.
