This beautiful bookshelf was transformed by Heidi from Lily Field Furniture with Dark Roast, Clear Coat, and her new favorite color, Jitterbug!

One of the things I love most about the color Jitterbug is the way it changes colors in different lighting. In some rooms it has a gorgeous green undertone and in some rooms it can take on a blue hint. It is hands down one of the most gorgeous colors in the Country Chic Paint lineup in my humble opinion!

Awhile back I painted an end table for a friend of mine in Jitterbug. She loved it so much that she wanted me to paint a bookshelf to match.

For this project I used All-in-One Decor paint. There was very minimal prep involved. After thoroughly cleaning the bookshelf, I lightly sanded any glossy surfaces. The bookshelf was a little light in color and so I first painted a layer of Dark Roast as my primer. This was so that when I distressed at the end you would see “dark wood” instead of the existing light wood.

Before painting with my final layer of Jitterbug I sprayed a light coat of shellac over the edges on my Dark Roast layer. What this does is seal in the first paint layer so that when you distress, you don’t sand away the base coat as well.

Since this bookshelf will definitely get a lot of use, I added several layers of Clear Coat for extra protection and a gorgeous sheen.

If you are wondering what colors pair well with Jitterbug, may I suggest Peacoat? This bookshelf and end table went into a bedroom with a Peacoat dresser. The gorgeous navy pairs so beautifully with Jitterbug!

Happy Painting!
