Cait from Little City Farmhouse decided to give this china cabinet a bold, modern look with Crinoline, Devotion, and Clear Coat!

Large projects like china cabinets can be daunting pieces to refinish, even if you are a seasoned painter. But don’t let that deter you! Once they are finished, they are always beautiful!

The first thing I did with this cabinet was prep. Pieces like this can collect a lot of dust and oily fingerprints, and even kitchen grease if they are close by. I washed this piece thoroughly with TSP and gave it a good rinse. I then gave it a scuff sand to prep the surface.

To ensure great adhesion, I put a coat of Clear Primer on. I absolutely love this product. It’s in high rotation in my shop! I let the primer cure overnight and then gave the cabinet three coats of Crinoline. White can take more coats than usual, so don’t be alarmed! Two coats looked great, but I always like to add a light additional coat when I work with whites.

For the upper interiors, I gave them several coats of Devotion.

After the entire piece was thoroughly dry, I gave it a light sanding and distressing. I used the All-in-One paint formula for this piece, which has a topcoat built in. For this piece I wanted another layer of protection so I gave it two coats of Clear Coat.

This piece started out as a very dark espresso colour, now it’s lightened up and has a little bold pop of colour!

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
