Isn’t this bold, statement dresser just gorgeous? Read on to find out how Heidi from Lily Field Furniture beautified it with Cranberry Sauce and Graphite Glaze to make it the perfect, festive addition to her home decor!

I’ve had this dresser and end table sitting in my workshop for several months now. It kept getting pushed to the back of my pile as I worked on other projects. When a client reached out about needing these exact items it was a perfect match!

Before beginning, I had to patch some spots on the bottom where trim was missing. After finishing these repairs I went ahead and cleaned both pieces thoroughly using a heavy duty cleaner. Usually soap and water are enough but this one had been sitting for quite awhile so I went the extra step. After they were clean I sanded down both pieces with 220 grit (180 on the laminate top) and then vacuumed up any remaining dust.

I also applied a layer of Primer to the top surface of the dresser. Since the top was laminate I wanted to give it a bit of extra adhesion grip. The clear primer is one of my favorite products because it still allows you to distress the piece without seeing white (typical primer color).

For color I was so excited to use Cranberry Sauce for the first time. It’s a color I’ve admired for a long time and just never had the chance to try. It is a GORGEOUS color! After allowing my paint to dry I went ahead and sealed with top coat.

After everything had time to dry thoroughly I used Graphite Glaze to deepen the detailing on both pieces. The reason I did this after applying my top coat and not before was to give me some room for error. By applying the glaze directly onto unsealed paint you will change the color of paint. By applying on top of your final protection layer (not wax) you can have more control.

The glaze was the perfect product to add a bit of character and dimension to these pieces!

I love this color and hope I’ve inspired you to give it a try on one of your own pieces!
