This sophisticated china cabinet was painted with Sunday Tea and Hula Hoop by Cheryl from Shab-2-Fab! She sealed her work with Black Wax and Hemp Oil.
While traveling to Las Vegas I rolled the dice on a late afternoon garage sale and hit the jackpot with this beautiful China Cabinet.
This cabinet was in such great condition the only prep it needed was a quick wipe down. I chose to do a two-tone look using Sunday Tea on the top half of the cabinet and Hula Hoop on the bottom half. After paint I gave the entire piece a very light distress using a 150 grit sand paper. Once distressed I sealed the piece using Hemp Oil and black wax.
I wanted to leave the inside of the cabinet original allowing the amazing detail on the cabinet doors to pop. Using hemp oil I brushed the inside of the cabinet then simply let it soak in and regain its original look and luster.
I then finished the piece off with a beautiful palm drawer liner that really gives it an elegant and sophisticated feel.
I am a small town gal with a passion for refinishing furniture. I live and work out of my home in Cedar City Utah and I am the mother of two little ones. I have always been a creative person and find tremendous joy in giving old furniture new life. Painting furniture has always felt natural to me and I feel an abundance of pride and joy when I have upcycled and saved a piece of history that might have been forgotten.
