We are loving ombre more and more these days! Come and learn tips and tricks from Emy from Semigloss Design so you can recreate this piece yourself!
To start with, Emy thoroughly cleaned this dresser and lightly sanded it. Because of its red undertones and deep stained finish, she knew this piece would be prone to bleedthrough, so she applied some shellac to prevent that from happening.
Next, she painted some basic color blocks in the five colors she selected.

TIP: Emy recommends storing your paint brushes in Ziploc bags while they’re not in use. That way, they won’t dry out while you’re working with a different color!
Now it’s time to start blending!
Apply a bit of fresh paint in the top two colors, and wet your brush to blend them. Experiment using vertical brush strokes versus horizontal ones as they’ll create different looks.
Continue working your way down your piece until all the layers are blended together!
TIP: work from the top down when blending so you can stop any drips that might form as you work.
Emy sealed her work with Clear Coat to add extra protection and a pretty satin sheen.
