To cover up the original, shiny orange finish on this washstand, Emy chose to use All-in-One Decor Paint in the color, Pebble Beach. After just one coat and some small touch ups, she had the perfect coverage she was looking for!

Next, she gently distressed it to make the finish look naturally worn.

She gave the entire piece a coat of natural wax with a wax brush, then buffed it dry with a lint-free rag.

Last but not least, she applied a thin coat of black wax. She focused on creases and edges where the piece would naturally collect dust and dirt over time.

By applying a coat of natural wax underneath, Emy made the black wax easier to manipulate and spread.

Tip: if you think you’ve added too much of a dark wax in a certain area, use a bit of natural wax to “erase” some of the color!
