I recently got to refinish a French Provincial dresser for my sweet little niece! She lives a few hours away from us so it was a treat to be able to do something special for her bedroom!

I had this four drawer French Provincial dresser in my furniture stash that they chose. However, when I had originally found it, it had been painted in a very bold coral and that needed to go! It wasn’t the best paint job and it needed to be smoothed out.

As you can see, I started sanding the dresser smooth with my orbital sander. I didn’t need to take it all the way down to bare wood, I just needed the brush marks and drips to be gone and to have a fresh smooth finish to start with. Since some spots did go down to bare wood, I primed the whole base to give it an even surface to paint.

My niece wanted a light lilac shade, so I went to my paint cabinet and started mixing! I chose an older limited edition colour from Country Chic Paint, Ever After. I muted it with Crinoline until I was happy with the shade. It was 3 parts Crinoline to 1 part Ever After (approximately).

I wanted to do something special on this piece since it was for a little girl. Shimmer Glaze was the perfect choice! I chose to spray it for a light, even finish, but you can definitely brush this glaze on!

Don’t you love the subtle sparkle of this glaze?

I sealed the entire body of the dresser with Clear Coat. The top I sanded to bare wood and gave a couple coats of White Wax to to give the dresser an all over light and airy feel.

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
