Abbey from Painted Home Goods gave this console table a buttery smooth finish using Liquorice All-in-One Decor Paint and some Grey Wax!

This desk wasn’t in great shape due to some water damage on the side and what seemed to have been a previous attempt at refinishing that left it coarse with an uneven stain.

After replacing the water-warped side and sanding smooth, I decided on a classic look and gave it a coat of Country Chic Paint’s soft black paint color, Liquorice.

For a softer look that lent itself well to the texture of the wood, I applied a coat of Grey Wax using my Country Chic Paint Wax Brush, and buffed it by hand for a soft sheen. To modernize the look while keeping it classic, I added new mudcloth pattern inspired ceramic knobs.

When I picked this up it felt a block of coarse sandpaper, now it’s as smooth as butter!

Abbey {Painted Home Goods}

As a mom to twin boys, I am always busy. Twice the fun, twice the work! My Twin Tornadoes and salvaging neglected furniture are my passions. If a twin mom in a small apartment can fix up and paint furniture, so can you! In today’s throw-away culture and tendency towards cheaply made, mass produced home goods, I seek to provide something different, something unique. Bringing new life to discarded finds is my way of contributing to the responsible thrifting counterculture. When shopping with PaintedHomeGoods you can feel good about what you buy. Enjoy!
