To create this gorgeous, grainy blue finish, Cait from Little City Farmhouse used the color, Hurricane topped with White Wax. Come learn all about the transformation!

As soon as I saw these tables I snagged them – finding a matching pair of tables can definitely be like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes! I really loved the mini dining table look of this pair, but deciding what to do with them took a while!
Here’s how they looked before I refinished them:

I went back and forth on a lot of different finishes but couldn’t settle on one.  I found an inspiration photo on Pinterest and decided to just go for it – the table was a smokey blue so I chose the color, Hurricane.  I painted the tables and decided I just didn’t like them fully painted, so I ended up stripping down the tops.

I really liked the way the light tops looked with the blue, but I needed to seal them.  Because these tables are oak, sealing the raw wood would bring out the yellow tones of the wood (much like they were in their original state before I refinished them).  To counteract that, I used Country Chic Paint’s White Wax.  I loved the way the White Wax sat in the deep oak grain! To unify the tables, I waxed over the Hurricane painted portion too.

The White Wax sitting in the oak grain over the blue is so stunning! Country Chic Paint’s White Wax is highly pigmented which makes it easy to achieve this look!

Even though I couldn’t decide on a finish in the beginning, they turned out exactly how I hoped!

Cait {Little City Farmhouse}

Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
