This little storage cabinet was in pretty rough shape before Abbey from Painted Home Goods rescued it with help from this olive green paint color called Conquer!

I love snatching up these smaller storage pieces because they make great kids’ dressers or nightstands with tons of storage. They’re usually super cheap and not so pretty which makes for a big impact makeover!

What sold me was the sides. Anything that adds a little character and charm is a plus. But those plastic knobs had to go. It was covered in dirt and cobwebs so it got a good cleaning before I sanded the top down.

Two coats of Country Chic Paint’s olive green Limited Edition Paint for a Cure color, Conquer, paired perfectly with the weathered gray stained top.

Vintage style card catalogue pulls and distressing around the edges finalized the look.

I also added “distressed” paper behind the pulls for a more authentic look. This is a quick and easy DIY: cut index cards to size, drench in leftover coffee, and bake at about 150 for 1-2 minutes just until dry.

All done!

Abbey {Painted Home Goods}

As a mom to twin boys, I am always busy. Twice the fun, twice the work! My Twin Tornadoes and salvaging neglected furniture are my passions. If a twin mom in a small apartment can fix up and paint furniture, so can you! In today’s throw-away culture and tendency towards cheaply made, mass produced home goods, I seek to provide something different, something unique. Bringing new life to discarded finds is my way of contributing to the responsible thrifting counterculture. When shopping with PaintedHomeGoods you can feel good about what you buy. Enjoy!
