Detailed Distressed Grey Console Table

The original dark finish of this table wasn’t doing the beautiful details justice, so Abbey from Painted Home Goods gave it a new look with a mixture of light grey furniture paint colors!

I stumbled across this table at my local antique mall for a great price. It was in need of some cosmetic work but was otherwise stunning. In the excitement to refinish it, I seem to have forgotten a true “before” picture!

The dark finish masked the details, so I knew I wanted to go with a light paint color to highlight them. Because of the alligator texture, the top was rough and uneven so I stripped and sanded it to smooth, bare wood.

I used a handful of leftover grays, primarily Country Chic Paint’s Pebble Beach and Pop the Bubbly, to mix up this warm gray color that paired well with the stained top and brought out the details while remaining neutral.

I distressed the paint to accent the yummy texture and give an aged look to the base.

With some new floral ceramic knobs, this table just might be one of my favorites yet.

As a mom to twin boys, I am always busy. Twice the fun, twice the work! My Twin Tornadoes and salvaging neglected furniture are my passions. If a twin mom in a small apartment can fix up and paint furniture, so can you! In today’s throw-away culture and tendency towards cheaply made, mass produced home goods, I seek to provide something different, something unique. Bringing new life to discarded finds is my way of contributing to the responsible thrifting counterculture. When shopping with PaintedHomeGoods you can feel good about what you buy. Enjoy!
