Giving Furniture a Lighter, Refreshed Look with Furniture Paint

Abbey from Painted Home Goods refreshed her mom’s buffet with the color, “Dune Grass” to give it a lighter, airier look. Read all about Abbey’s process in this post!

Over Christmas break I tackled my mom’s buffet in her sewing loft. It’s a great solid wood piece with tons of storage, but it needed a refresh.

After a thorough cleaning I gave it a coat of Country Chic Paint’s Clear Bonding Primer. This primer provides a base coat that allows the new paint to  adhere better to the surface. Since it’s clear, the wood tone will show through when I distress instead of white primer!

Mom chose one of her favorite Country Chic Paint colors, Dune Grass, and thanks to the primer, it barely needed two coats! I distressed the paint to bring out the character and she’ll be adding new glass knobs.

Abbey {Painted Home Goods}

As a mom to twin boys, I am always busy. Twice the fun, twice the work! My Twin Tornadoes and salvaging neglected furniture are my passions. If a twin mom in a small apartment can fix up and paint furniture, so can you! In today’s throw-away culture and tendency towards cheaply made, mass produced home goods, I seek to provide something different, something unique. Bringing new life to discarded finds is my way of contributing to the responsible thrifting counterculture. When shopping with PaintedHomeGoods you can feel good about what you buy. Enjoy!
