Robin from In Fine Feather Furniture scored this dining set at an auction and updated it with “Lazy Linen” furniture paint and Clear Coat. Come see what you think of her modernized farmhouse style dining table!

This set still had it’s original stickers on, which I quickly googled to find out it had made it’s way to Vancouver Island from Gloucestershire, England!

I had planned to flip this table and sell it, knowing it was a highly sought after style, but during the time I was storing it while finishing up other projects I grew more and more jealous of the potential new owners. It’s a great set for a family with kids. Well…then came the Coronavirus outbreak and the desire to have strangers come to my house for viewing wasn’t so appealing anymore. It seemed “meant to be” to finish the project for our home to keep.
The process was pretty simple. Washing, tightening the hardware, planing the table and bench tops, then sanding them smooth.

I painted the chairs, benches and table base in Country Chic Paint’s color, Lazy Linen. It is a nice white with a hint of grey. It goes great with warm or cool tones, and matches our newly painted home perfectly. After some light distressing I sealed the paint with Clear Coat for extra protection.

The raw wood tops got 3 coats of Clear Coat for a nice, natural satin finish.

I recovered the chair seat upholstery with a new outdoor furniture fabric that looks just like tweed but is waterproof and very stain resistant.

It fits perfectly in our small dining room. The kids love having a whole bench each and it’s proving to be a great place for home school work, and arts and crafts.
